Recently released data show that air transportation job creation in 2015 across counties in the US varied from a high of 3,100 in Tarrant County (Dallas, TX) to a loss of 3,500 jobs in Marion County (Indianapolis, IN).
Out of 226 counties with air transportation economies, the Top 5 job creators also included Los Angeles County (Los Angeles, CA), Queens County (New York, NY), King County (Seattle, WA), and Miami-Dade County (Miami, FL).
Air transportation job losses were highest in Marion County (Indianapolis, IN), Denver County (Denver, CO), Loudoun County (Washington, DC), Cuyahoga County (Cleveland, OH), and Wayne County (Detroit, MI).
Job creation in the air transportation sector in the US has been in steady decline. In the last 5 years, job growth was only at 2% with 9,300 new jobs. The sector currently employs 450,000 people in the US.
