Recently released data show that food manufacturing job creation in 2014 across counties in the US varied from a high of 1,100 in Vanderburgh County, IN (Evansville) to a loss of 900 jobs in Marshall County, AL (Albertville).
Out of more than 1,000 counties with food manufacturing economies, the Top 5 job creators also included Merced County-CA (Merced), Adams County-CO (Denver), Blair County-PA (Altoona), and Cumberland County, PA (Harrisburg).
Food manufacturing job losses were led by Marshall County-AL (Albertville), Polk County-MN (Grand Forks), and Calhoun County-MI (Battle Creek).
Job creation in the Food Manufacturing sector in the US has rebounded since the recession but has been in long-term decline. In the last 5 years, the sector grew 2% and created 35,000 new jobs. The sector currently employs 1.5 million people in the US.
